DSA Wins Overall Best Automation Application
at NIWeek 2002
Austin TX, August 2002 ---
National Instruments (NATI) announced Best
Automation Application paper contest category finalists
and Overall Outstanding Automation Application at their
worldwide conference on Measurement & Automation,
NIWeek™ 2002. Data Science Automation Inc. (DSA), a
Pittsburgh-based technology consulting and systems integration
firm, had four finalist applications in three
of the eleven possible application categories; R&D/Laboratory
Automation, Aerospace/Defense, and Biomedical.
DSA's finalist application papers were titled "Ion
Beam Deposition System Automation" for the US Naval
Research Laboratory, "Jet Engine Simulation for
Next Generation Fuel Pump Testing" for ArgoTech
Corporation, "Proteomics Ultra-High Throughput
Screening Breakthrough" for Morewood Molecular
Sciences, and "Pharmaceutical Storage Facility
Climate Monitoring System" for the US Department
of Health and Human Services.
In addition to winning the R&D/Laboratory Automation
category, the "Ion Beam Deposition System Automation"
application won the best of show, Overall Outstanding
Automation Application.
This award winning ion beam deposition system is used
in basic research for magnetic sensors. Its purpose
is to automate the thin film multi-layer deposition
of magnetic and non-magnetic materials on silica substrates.
It results in high vacuum experimental coating processes
with improved consistency, higher speed and significantly
reduced cost.
